Mission Statement The Association for Akha Education and Culture in Thailand is the oldest charity in S.E. Asia assisting ethnic indigenous minorities. Our humanitarian work focuses on Burmese refugees entering Thailand from Burma's Shan state and we support 'hill tribe' groups throughout 264 rural villages in northern Thailand. We offer quality non profit volunteering in conservation, teaching and humanitarian work
Volunteer Duties TEACHING ENGLISH: Assist Burmese refugees and ethnic minority children with English for a better life. Our schools need the skills you can provide. Our teaching program is in partnership with local universities, Thailand’s Border Police and The Royal projects under the crown. Come and inspire children.

WORK CAMP: Be a proud partner of the UN and help build the infrastructure for free education, free healthcare and clean sanitation in our work camp. Also help the communities within their everyday life where you can engage with a hill tribe family.

CONSERVATION: From forest canopies to elephants the AFECT conservation program protects biodiversity and helps at risk species from threat. Run in partnership with scientists, shaman elders and Thailand’s famous Royal Botanical Gardens, work with the fascinating forest tribes to preserve the environment and wildlife.
